2018: The Year of Ultra Violet
Towards the end of year, The Pantone Color Institute announced the colour of the year for 2018 - PANTONE 18-3838. This bluish ultra-violet hue is mystical, gentle, calming and creative and I suspect we will see many variations of the shade in clothing collections over the year ahead. In fact, having had an aversion to wearing purple in any shape or form for most of my life, I have found myself strangely gravitating towards this colour over the past year... In the summer I bought a lilac linen t-shirt in Gap, a lilac cotton dress in Zara and recently picked up a deep purple cashmere jumper from PURE Collection in the winter sales - all very abnormal purchases for me but here I am, looking forward to seeing what violet pieces will emerge in stores over the coming months because I definitely want to wear more of this colour. And Pantone knew it before I did!

And with the ever-growing popularity of new age practices and a need for greater peace and spiritual alignment on earth, it is no wonder that ultra violet, the colour of the crown chakra, calming amethyst and dusky shades from the hazy borders between earth and sky, is just the shade we need this year.
So far, Sandro seem to be ahead of the violet game when it comes to womenswear (have a look here!). I am sure there will be a LOT more to come but but for now, here is a selection of pieces to add some ultra violet to your world:
